Fill this form to have the opportunity to join the New Generations platform: submissions will be reviewed on a daily-basis, and the most innovative practices will have the chance to be part of the media's coverage and participate in our cultural agenda, including events, research projects, workshops, exhibitions and publications.
New Generations is a European platform that investigates the changes in the architectural profession ever since the economic crisis of 2008. We analyse the most innovative emerging practices at the European level, providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge and confrontation, theory, and production.
Since 2013, we have involved more than 300 practices from more than 20 European countries in our cultural agenda, such as festivals, exhibitions, open calls, video-interviews, workshops, and experimental formats. We aim to offer a unique space where emerging architects could meet, exchange ideas, get inspired, and collaborate.

The new Agriturismo La Barberina is generated from the renovation of two contiguous buildings, dating back to the 18th Century, conducted by campomarzio.
The buildings were built around a small agricultural court, located in the historic center of Calceranica al Lago Bin Trentino, Italy.
Built as outbuildings for agricultural purposes, they had been used throughout time as stables, warehouses, barns and storages for sericulture.
Calceranica al Lago is a village close to Trento characterised by its vicinity to the lake, but also by its historic character.
The implemented intervention aimed to preserve the original character of the buildings, introducing changes that would allow an exhaustive response to the new functional needs.
It was possible to preserve the original façade compositions and materials.
Since none of the two buildings had internal connections between the various levels, a new horizontal and vertical distribution system was introduced in order to connect the two buildings.
They were unrelated between each other.
The new access sequence starts outside with a first wooden staircase leading from the courtyard to a mezzanine floor, then continuing inside with a system of 3 stairs.
They unfold around a central spine wall, allowing the user to reach the rooms arranged on various levels.
The interior slabs of the attic floor were demolished and rebuilt at a different altitude, while the wooden structure of the roofs were preserved and left visible.
The irregular holes in the exposed stone walls were partially blocked and the original larch wood paneling were reinterpreted as a brise-soleil system for large windows.
Finally, the dining room was allocated to a vaulted room on the ground floor.
The room is naturally illuminated by the large window that replaces what was once the door of the stable.
The intervention was conceived by campomarzio combining critical conservation, local typologies and new functional needs, with the introduction of a small number of new elements and a particular attention to detail solutions and use of materials.
