Fill this form to have the opportunity to join the New Generations platform: submissions will be reviewed on a daily-basis, and the most innovative practices will have the chance to be part of the media's coverage and participate in our cultural agenda, including events, research projects, workshops, exhibitions and publications.
New Generations is a European platform that investigates the changes in the architectural profession ever since the economic crisis of 2008. We analyse the most innovative emerging practices at the European level, providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge and confrontation, theory, and production.
Since 2013, we have involved more than 3.000 practices from more than 50 countries in our cultural agenda, such as festivals, exhibitions, open calls, video-interviews, workshops, and experimental formats. We aim to offer a unique space where emerging architects could meet, exchange ideas, get inspired, and collaborate.

The old Barcelona flat renovation aim is to improve its existing conditions and enhance the attributes that make it singular.
The long geometry of the house, with natural light entering only through each end, made it difficult to locate the rooms in a logical way.
An oversized beam spans the entire length of the house thus holding the deformation of the old wooden beams of the existing ceiling.
This new beam is held by two other beams across the width, placed about 60cm under the ceiling to let the natural light into the central part of the house.
The new beam along the house serves as a common thread through all the rooms, and guides along the different spaces. A series of sliding doors provide intimacy when needed.
The central room of the home unfortunately can't have access to either facade, although natural light can still reach it through the interior windows under the ceiling.
Part of the existing hydraulic tiles were reclaimed and placed in this room, as if it was a carpet, to enhance and provide significance to the space.
This central space can be used as a studio, dining room or even a guest bedroom. A series of folding doors can provide intimacy when needed, while still making it possible to use the rest of the rooms.
During the renovation, a new, very simple kitchen was placed next to the living room, freeing up as much facade space as possible instead of the existing situated right against the facade.
The window was enlarged to provide a better relation with the exterior.
With that same goal, new openings were made in the wall separating the living room to the gallery space to seamlessly connect both spaces, and be able to use the gallery as an extension to the living room.
The new layout makes it possible to improve the existing conditions, rearranging the rooms along the length of the house using the new beam that was needed to sustain the ceiling as the central design concept
